It was Tuesday the 5th of March and The Premium Blend Radio Show were presenting the awesome Tuesday evening showcasing the best unsigned and emerging artist tracks. The Premium Blend Radio Show is at the front of grass roots music, dedicating their show to supporting new music locally, nationally and internationally. If you have music, you wish the team to listen then, visit the website on www.thepremiumblendradioshow.co.uk where there are links to submit tracks, and links to the social platforms and previous show podcasts. It’s worth a visit.
Joining The Premium Blend in the studio were Modern Age Music, Alibi and Costellos. Modern Age Music are a local promoter putting on gigs across the country, starting a South Coast Tour on the 12th March. 5 gigs in 5 south coast towns in 5 days, wow! Alibi and Costellos will be joined by Dirty Laces at each gig with guest bands at each location. www.modernagemanagement.com
The mood in the studio was electric. Standing room only! Alibi were playing an electric set in the first hour. The studio was bulging with amps, guitars, the band and a drum kit, there was a buzz of excitement and we were joined by Brandon from Modern Age Music.
Alibi are an alternative indie rock band from Hastings. Indie guitars and energy that comes from their enthusiasm for their music. Alibi are releasing their new track The Things You Said on 11th March and will showcase it live at the first of the South Coast Tour dates, on the 12th March at The Forum, Sussex Basement in Tunbridge Wells.
Alibi started the evening off with Ice Cold Sugar. I love this track. It’s a mix of indie awesome guitars, lyrics that run through your head, vocals punching the air, harmonies and drums that wrap around the track perfectly. It was a great starter for what was an evening of pure indie class.
Returning with Different Day, the lyrics poignant, the bass guitar shooting into the limelight, and the drums pushing with the guitars to create the perfect musical fight. Vocals pulling the last punch. Beautiful indie melodies, and I had a ring side seat.
Ending the first with The Things You Said, Alibi’s new track releasing on 11th March. You can find a teaser on Alibi’s socials and its worth a listen. Adding another gem to their catalogue The Things You Said is unashamedly an indie masterpiece. The rhythm guitar is awesome, catchy but breaks out into a solo with the bass, a great collaboration. The vocals again are full of passion and push the lyrics confidently to the fore. The chorus melodies compliment the indie backdrop and the drums keep the band in check, with a smooth encompassing hug of a beat. Awesome!
Into the second hour and joined in the studio by 2 members of Costellos. Costellos are a four-piece rock and roll indie band from Southampton. Costellos are a sell-out headline band who also support major artists in the UK. Normally fully electric we were joined by George (lead singer and guitar) and Kieran (Bass) for a rare acoustic set. Kicking off with Say, with a 90s feel and clean acoustic sound. The vocals have that slightly spoken twist which makes your ears prick up and listen, the guitar picking out the harmonies and the bass blending perfectly into the track. Its fantastic to see the different sides of a band’s talent and Costellos were pulling off the acoustic with ease.
The second track with mirroring life lyrics, Tenner In The Tank. Haven’t we all been there. Somewhere to go and someone to see. Executed with slick confidence and an obvious love of playing the track. The bass pumped its deep tones and the acoustic guitar added complexity to this acoustic rendition. Stand out vocals and talent showed through in bundles.
Ending their set with Out Of The Blue, a musical masterpiece, an alternative love song of sorts. Again, the lyrics are so now, so full of the pieces of life that affect us all. I love George’s laid-back vocals that still pull a toxic punch. Out Of The Blue is a great track, full of indie magic and vocal passion. It was great to see Costellos acoustic, but I am also excited to be going to The South Coast Tour, and see this band in their glorious electric medium.
Alibi and Costellos will be joined by Dirty Laces, who were unable to join us in the studio. Stuart from The Premium Blend played their track Moving Pictures as part of his show, so the Dirty Laces could also be in the building. I can’t stop smiling, it’s a phenomenal track. Guitar solos and banging drums, a heavy indie guitar riff with melodic vocals. The track starting with a grungy guitar and continues with an under current of post 90s indie greatness. If you like it heavy, if you like it indie then this is what your ears want to listen to.
The South Coast Tour
12th March, The Forum Sussex Basement, Tunbridge Wells
Guest band Suncharmer will be adding a splash of glitter to the Tunbridge Wells gig. I’ve seen Suncharmer live a few times, and they never fail to please. Heavy rock style indie with guitar solos and a vibrant front man, the glitter fills the room, the revellers dance and feel on a rock driven high. A great live band with a different twist, always a must see.
13th March, Heartbreakers, Southampton
Calum Linott will be joining the tour in Costellos hometown, Southampton on the 13th. Calum is a talented singer/songwriter with an indie infused style. A great vocalist with harmonies and mixed tones, blending with the indie back drop perfectly, throwing in a slice of front man magic. A great live band that have the audience dancing and eating out of their hands.
14th March, The Brunswick, Brighton
Ill be in the crowd at the Brunswick, the tour is joined by The Grand Nowhere. I’ve been wanting to see these guys live for a while now. Wear comfy shoes you’ll be dancing all night. These guys have endless energy and jump around the stage. Indie guitars that move between heavy riffs and controlled rhythm, vocals banging in your face. Check out their socials and watch a live video. the audience are part of the set. I can’t wait.
15th March, Bar 42, Worthing
Bar 42 will be hosting the tour on 15th March, White Canvas will be joining this Worthing date. White Canvas are Britrock with an awesome classic rock sound. Guitars taking the lead and the drums and Bass adding a depth to the rock vibe. The vocals are laid-back and dirty driven with a rock/indie touch. White Canvas formed in late 2017 and hit the local music scene with a punch, gigging tirelessly. Pop in to Bar 42 and on the 15th and rock till the indie drops.
16th March, Black Market, Hastings
Hastings is a centre of live music on the south coast, that rivals the awesome Brighton scene. Alibi’s home town, the tour will be adding The Don’t Knows (TDK) to the line-up. Young and fresh TDK have a pop indie melodic sound, that has a feel good vibe. It’s a piece of sunshine out of the shadows of a dark heavy indie sound. Its lively and catchy with a fantastic light indie appeal, yet the guitars can still be heavy and the drums banging. I’m new to this band, but I can’t wait to see them live when I join the tour for their Hastings gig
