"From ballsy Rock and Blues to Dream-Pop, Trip-Hop, Grunge, Punk and Psych this festival has it all."

In November 2017 we held the first ever Off The Record Independent Music Festival with 11 bands, 1 stage, and the egregious intention of lifting the buzzing Brighton underground music scene to brand new heights.

We chose The Brunswick because of it's commitment to live music in the city, and its fearlessly independent approach to putting on shows. In hindsight this was probably the most important decision we made - this event would have been unlikely to grow year after year in the way it has since if it wasn't for the fantastic support from the venue.

Interviews with Radio Reverb, Brighton and Hove Community Radio, and The Premium Blend Radio Show and some slightly cheeky 'celebrity' promo videos meant that the word spread far and wide across the community, there was a buzz about this event and people knew that something special was happening soon!

Honeybadger kicked off proceedings and with an average age of about 13.5 they started what has since become an Off The Record tradition of giving at least 1 younger band the opportunity to play at each year. These guys absolutely smashed it playing a loud, grungey / alt-rock set to a room full of stunned festival goers.

Impressive sets followed from all the bands and the day ended with Dirty Weekend helping us draw the evening to a close, bringing with them a variety of glittery festival themed accessories and their unique blend of soul, pop, and indie tunes. All in all a huge success, we booked the 2018 date the following day!
